Santha Rama Rau is an Indian born western-based journalist whose career in writing began at the age of 16,till she breathed her last this month at the age of 86, in New York. She was more of a travel writer, documenting her visits to various countries of Asia, Africa, and the former Soviet. Born in Madras, she completed her education in the US, and wrote travel stories for publications like ‘The New Yorker’ and ‘The Harpers’ and ‘Holiday’.
